Confirm the delivery arrangements
Agree who orders each item, when it is due and where it can be stored safely. Check packaging for damage and report shortages through the agreed contact. Large baths, screens and panels need a clear route into the property. For an upper-floor flat, describe the stairs and landings rather than assuming every packaged product will pass through easily.
Clear the bathroom and the access route
Remove toiletries, medicines, towels and personal belongings from the work area. Agree which nearby furniture or items need moving and who provides protection for floors and surrounding rooms. Keep the route clear without blocking a shared entrance or stairway. Discuss waste handling and where old fittings can be placed while awaiting collection.
Plan around interruptions
Ask when water or bathroom facilities may be unavailable. If it is your only toilet or shower, make the necessary household arrangements before work starts. Do not rely on a general promise that disruption will be small; ask what the agreed programme means for your home each day. Explain any practical needs that should be considered in that plan.
Agree communication and changes
Know who to contact during the work and how updates will be provided. Confirm that unexpected findings or requested changes will be discussed before extra work is agreed. Keep the accepted quote, specification and product details together. If you decide to change a fitting mid-project, ask how that affects compatibility, deliveries, cost and the schedule.
Keep the work area separate
Discuss access to the property and how the working area will be managed around household members and pets. Follow the installer’s site arrangements and ask before entering an active work area. The aim is to keep daily routines predictable while materials, tools and unfinished surfaces are present. Avoid making assumptions about which parts of the room are ready for use.
Prepare for the handover
Walk through the finished scope together and note any outstanding items. Ask for product care instructions, relevant documentation and contact details for questions about the completed work. Confirm when surfaces and fittings can be used according to the products installed. Keep product references and agreed warranty information with your quotation for future maintenance.
